Can't get constant 12v power to aftermarker radio
Hello.
I just got an 09 V6 the other day. It has the basic 4 speaker system in it and I wanted to add my Alpine deck from my previous car. I ordered all the equipment from crutchfield. This is were I am having the trouble. The RED 12v wire does not work in the harness. If you look at the harness from ford going to the deck wiring there is no wire there. I called crutchfield and they said that I would have to tap into the fuse box and pigy back off of another fuse. Does this sound right? There is another conncetor there that I believe if for the aux controls. I tried all of those wires for a constant 12 volts and nothing. Has any one had this problem or know what to do? I am stumped..It should be plug and play. There has to be a constant 12v source or my factory radio would never come on. There was a red wire with a stripe I spiced and tried but nothing.. It was the only othr wire I could see that was not used.

Per the wiring diagram (from a 05 but should be similar), there are 3 wires that feed power:
LG/VT - from fuse F1.56, 20A (hot at all times) - fuse is in bussed electrical center
GY/YE - from F2.6, 5A, Hot in run or Acc
RD/BK - from F2.20, 10A, Hot in start (only start? possibly!!!)
The last 2 are in the smart junction box inside under dash on passenger side.

I think the red wire from the Crutchfield harness
comes from the the ACC DELY RELAY in a S197 stang.
You want the YELLOW wire for constant 12VDC...
