Question 08 Mustang GT

I purchased a mustang GT (08) and LOVE IT! However, I have had one consistant issue since I purchased it. Everytime I put the key in it won't turn. Of course it does not do this at the dealer. Even my husband has not experienced this. That was until yesturday when he was 40 miles from home. It took him 5 minutes to get it started. I have to turn the wheel until I hear a click. It than starts. Is anyone else having this issue and if so, what is it! This is a stick shift.

Thanks

I have a stick too but no issues starting it. That does sound wierd. Try posting this question in the "2005-2010 Mustangs" forums. That way more owners will notice and maybe someone can help you. This forum is mainly for 4.0 or V6 owners.

I had a problem similar to this. Are you just having a hard time turning the key? I ended up taking mine to the dealership. They had to swap out the whole ignition switch.

I had the same thing happen to my 08 stang and its in the dealer getting fixed right now. They told me i needed a new ignition actuator or some **** like that. So hopefully that will fix. And mine is also stick and it tended to do it really bad when it was really hot out.

If it's happening all the time, then have them replace the ignition switch. Otherwise, most cars will do that on occasion where the steering wheel needs to be moved a bit. I'm not familiar with the mechanism that syncs the two.

BTW, you posted in the 4.0L forum.

Your steering wheel is locked under tension.
Try relaxing the steering wheel and dont
park downhill with your
wheels turned into the curb.
Retease the tension on the steering wheel lock
by rotating it slightly before attempting to turn the ignition key.

Did you get the issue resolved? If so, what was needed in order to fix it?
