Question Do I need to take off CAI and reflash my chip?

I am leaving for college in a few weeks and want to get the car checked out by the local shop before I drive down to San Diego and was wondering if I need to put my old intake and old programming back on the car? I know you need to do this if you take it to Ford so it doesnt void the warranty, but I have an 05 and the 3-year warranty is done. What do I do?

I NEVER removed my CAI & tune when I've taken the Stang back to the dealer and they've never said beans. Matter of fact, they've commented positively about my mods. The CAI & tune will NOT void your warranty. Besides, you're not taking it in for any specific engine work so the CAJ & tune had better not raise an eyebrow from the dealership.

I said it before and I'll say it again; only wusses get intimidated by dealerships that will drop the "voided warranty" ploy.

Im not taking it to the dealership n my warranty is already up. i was just asking if the shop is gonna do an all around check of the car if it matters if new software n a aftermarket part (which is illegal in cali) is installed.

So you're asking about the illegal part? Is it the window tint in front? The CAI? I don't live in CA, but what can a repair shop do if they discover an illegal part on your car? Will they call the cops? Take it to a shop you know won't give you any hassles or just remove the part.

Are you having the car checked to make sure you won't have any problems on the road trip? If so, leave it all in. It won't get you in trouble and if you're having it checked out as a precaution then it would be pointless to have it looked at when it's not resembling what its like when you're driving it. Btw, the C&L CAI isn't street legal in CA?

oh no my mistake the CAI is legal...there is a sticker on the SCT Tuner that says it is not t be used on "pollution control vehicles or in the state of CA"? i'm just going to leave it in and see what happens i think.

im just having a tune up for my brake pads and alignment and oil and stuff to make sure im good to go before college.

I didn't realize the SCT (or tuners in general?) were illegal in CA. Doesn't stop me from wanting one but it's interesting
