Anyone upgrade their factory Stereo?

If I was you I wouldn't accept any single Din style cd player, you have a stock double, if they messed it up either they buy you a new stock or get you a double..... Singles look too goofy with all the plastic spacer everywhere

From what I understand, the OP didn't have a Shaker unit with the 6 Disc, he has a basic stock model. So in his case a good quality aftermarket brand would be much better.

a Kenwwod with a TFT display to me.

My case isn't that an aftermarket radio wouldn't be better, it's the fact that we all have double din openings and they are only willing to replace it with a single din radio? It doesn't matter if you have a single disc or a 5 disc stock, both units are exactly the same size. the single disc is a double din unit, filling up the entire space, why should he have to have an unsightly 3" plastic spacer to look at on both sides of a single Din unit on a mistake he didn't make? there are plenty of aftermarket Double din units, helping to look a bit more stock while giving you great audio, why should he be limited on an issue that shouldn't be?

I understand what he originally was asking for, but since no one was offering to help him out by selling him a stock cd player at a resonable price i was simply trying to give him an additional option to think about. and i agree that a nice double din aftermarket is definitely the best way to go IMO, but some people love the look of the stock or maybe money is a major factor; i payed $600 + 150 for the install of my stereo so its understandable if thats not a practical option.

Many of you have hit the nail on the head. I understand an aftermarket single DIN unit could out perform the stocker, but my concern is that it would look cheesy and I would lose some some of the features I do like such as the RDS and the speed sensing. I think I am going to push back with the shop. I have NO idea how Paintless Dent repair ended up with a scratched radio. Thats beyond me. But it is what it is....
07lane40, thanks for the offer! Unfortunately I want to stick to the chrome *****, I'm weird that way. I can get a radio off of fleabay, but I'd prefer to support the enthusiast crowd. Hopefully someone on here will have one.
Would the 6 CD unit hook up to my base system?
