Default Cluster direct swap for IUP experience

Okay. I've been experiencing direct swap of my instrument gauge cluster
for Interior Upgrade Package.

First. My ride.
2008 Mustang V6, Manual, 4 gauge cluster.
No ABS, Bullit Rims from 06 GT, so no TPMS.
Original cluster part number: 7R33 10849 AC
Even it is manual, it has little light for "O/D OFF"

What I researched
Part number for Mustang Instrument cluster: #R3$-10849-&@
# = model year. (But 08 Mustangs uses 07 cluster. So there's no 8 for this figure)
$ = 3 for GT or V6, V for GT500
& = A for MPH V6 4 gauge B for KPH V6 4 gauge
C for MPH GT 4 gauge D for KPH GT 4 gauge
E for MPH V6 6 gauge F For V6 6gauge
G for MPH GT 6 gauge H for KPH GT 6 gauge
@ = either A, B, C, or D. classification unknown.

What I found:
Part number 7R33 10849 EC with very similar mileage. Paid $120 shipped.
According to the part number, it is MPH 6 gauge cluster unit for 07-08 V6 mustang.
And according to other member who works for Ford, all 6 gauge clusters have
features for IUP.

Note: TPMS has been effective since 07 model year.
I don't think 05-06 cluster will be compatible to 07-08 unit.

Installation:
Direct swap. Just pull out front bezel, unscrew 4 bolts, pull out cluster,
unhook connector(ther's only one), and reverse for install.

Result:
As soon as I plugged replacement into the connector,
all needles re-calibrated and aim to 0.
When I turned on my car, it showed me last trip mile and total mileage.
The back light was light purple.
I think it somehow store data even when it has been unhooked.
Test drove about 20 miles, including reverse, 80mph highway driving.
No chimes or sound. Works perfect.
But it shows me "TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT" because I took the sensors off.
I can't see my mileage because I haven't installed switch for center panel,
and 6 gauge cluster has no buttons of any sort, so I'll have to see the warning message till I got the switch.
It didn't give my ABS light/warning, even the cluster has ABS light.
(My original cluster had ABS light too.)

So far, I'm happy with the swap and I don't think I need to go dealership.
Now I'll have to buy the switch for full control over the cluster. LOL

Just wait, something will not work correctly and the
module will need to be configured by the stealership.
The milage info is stored in the cluster and you removed
your cluster so I dont know how the new cluster knows
your milage....

"My mileage" after installation means mileage on replacement cluster.
My original mileage was 148xx, mileage on replacement is 155xx miles.
And everything works correctly so far.
I just can't get TPMS warning message off from information center because I don't have the switch.
So, I can't see my trip mile/mileage yet.

Pin out the connector and 'make' the connections with a
jumper wire just for fun.
So you lost mileage on your factory warranty?
Come 29,987 real milage, somethings gonna break
and those few miles you lost will be all the difference.
Enjoy the new cluster....
Wish I had the ***** to do the swap.

Whats the purpose of wanting the 6 guage?
What do the other two guages do for you?
Oil pressure? Its an Idiot guage like the light you now have.
Battery Voltage? Thats only good if you know how to interpit
the readings...

If you have 07 V6 MPH, you would look for
7R33 10849 EC or EB, and control switch "4R3Z-10D889-AAA"

6 gauges are way better than 4.
Even the oil pressure/amp meter's reading are not so accurate, better than nothing.
Also, all 6 gauge clusters have "Information Center Display" and
"My Color" option as well.

You can send your cluster to this company and they will reset it for you with the miles you had on your old cluster;

http://www.aaellc.com/

From what I understand, it is not that expensive especially compared to the dealership.

I'm so glad I got the IUP when I ordered my car! Love the blue lights.

If your gonna do the swap why not go with the 6 gauge? I think we can all agree it looks cooler but to each his own I guess.
