4300K is what you will see in most stock applications on new vehicles. 5000k and 6000k will start losing the "white" light and begin adding the "blue" light that you see. Anything after that is just for looks. The really blue output is getting up into the 10,000k and 13,000k range which means you will have less if any white light output and less visibility. Especially in the rain. 4300k to 6000k is what I would stick with.

I've developed my own custom one-off HID system to my specification in co-opperation with Sylvania's aftermarket arm Xsighting Lighting.
Here's some basic info I needed to deal with for my custom HID's which should help...
4100k is the brightest HID.
If you're looking for brightness the best route is easily shown here:

I got the 4300k 55w digital kit from retrosolutions and I love the light output. 4300k puts out the most light and look much whiter than stock, without the bluish tint of the 6000k.
