I'm just waiting on bigger rims to fit the GT rotors before I do this mod. This is a very nice cost effective mod though. And its no big deal if you wanted to replace the calipers at the same time. Not what I personally would have done but I would make them easier to paint.

I'm sure the OP's "new" brakes will be fine. however, it should DEFINITELY be noted by the OP that this is NOT the recommended procedure, just the choice of the owner. good luck.

Have a question while we are kicking this upgrade about:

Say I get the new GT Rotors & longer caliper mounts (in this hypo case, skipping the calipers).

Now - what else do I need to do the mod (assuming I have wheels large enough to fit over the new brakes).

I would think you also need new pads too. Also, when you press the piston back in to add the new pads - is it wise to crack the bleeder open while pushing it back in? I'm just curious, some say to do it...

If you have not 'topped off' the reservoir, its not needed to 'crack' the bleeder.

And yes, thats all you need folks.
GT caliper brackets, new one time use hardware to mount said brackets
and the GT sized rotors, OEM or aftermarket.
And 17" OEM rims or larger.

The workshop manual states to discard them for new ones
before reassembly. Its your life here, folks.
No time for one time use fastners to break because they
were torqued more than once.

alright 157db if you were wondering
the brakes are fine, a ford parts
guy i know checked them. I have
the one time bolts. All of the parts
are brand new, they checked the
rotors out too. Im replacing the
brake fluid, a little bit better stuff.

Is there anything else that I might have missed, because im dumb enough to spend a few bucks more and get brand new (working) calipers????
