Default 2010 4.0 Question

We just bought a 2010 Premium coupe with the 4.0. The car has developed a belt squeal. I had the dealer look at it and basiclly they did nothing. But my question for you guys is....I think my harmonic balancer is bad. You can look at it while the car is running and with the heater controls on and the a/c compressor cycles you can see the balancer shift about 3/8" and this is when the belt starts to squeal. I have videoed the car doing this. Also when your driving down the road the belt will make nosie.
Has anyone else had this problem??
Thanks
Jeff

check your idler pully. I had a ranger with a 4.0 my brother had a ranger with a 4.0 and my mom had a explorer sport with a 4.0 all had belt squeak problems. was always the idler pully cocked on the shaft. The dealer always replaced these under warranty, this was back on 01-04 figured ford would have fixed this issue.
Might try looking there, I finally put some belt dressing on mine to make it quite in the winter after having it replaced 3 times on the ranger. Mine would squeak when it was cold and stop after a while when it warmed up.

My belt squeeks just a little when the car is cold. Probably because the belts cold because one the car comes up to temp, it goes away.

Thanks guys..I took it to the dealer today for its first oil change and for them to look at the belt problem again, belt was squealing as usual and after they finished the oil change the mechanic and I were talking so I told him what I thought. He started it up and it started squealing right away. he walked right over to the parts manager and ordered a new balancer. Then he came back to me and apologized for not talking to me the first time I took the car to them. That made me feel much better about this dealership!!
