I guess its all in the amount of wear on them. How many miles are on them??? The t-lok has been talked about quite a bit here, and it does have parts in it (discs) that wear over time. As far as gears, I would think buying new is better, so that they are meshed right from the start and noise free. However I also think you need an install kit with new bearings/seals/crush sleve to do the job right.

better to buy new for both but maybe better odds with the posi. my gear shop informed me that used gears have brought up to many whine/noise issues for street use and he stopped installing them due to too many unsatisfied customers. only recommends good used gears for off-road vehicles where whine is the least of concerns.
from what i was informed, used gears develop a wear pattern that is permanent. switching gears into other diffs is asking for whine.

It will cost you at least double that $200.00 to buy the gears/T-lok new but its much better in the long run then used parts. Might I suggest you find out exactly how much this mod is going to cost you. Take into consideration new gears, new T-lok, all installation parts needed and then the cost of professional installation. Where I live installation alone can run $400.00-$500.00 or more. Then look into the price of an 8.8 GT takeoff rear. Sometimes its cheaper to just get an 8.8 GT takeoff rear. Plus even with new gears & T-lok, the dreaded "whine" can happen with the best gear installer. Now its really going to cost you to fix that! The 8.8 comes fully assembled and is much easier to install then gears/T-lok on the stock 7.5 rear. The 8.8 GT takeoff is brand new(less then 5 miles)and stronger to boot. If you go this way be sure to buy the 8.8 with the V6 pinion flange installed. Either way you will like what the gears & T-lok do for your V6 Mustang. GOOD LUCK!
