Default 08 Clutch Question

So I have a 08 that is having an odd issue. The other day, it was cold, about 20 degrees here in texas. When I left my house, the car was running fine, then I hit the main road. I turned, and accelerated, and the clutch all the sudden went soft. Like there's no play in it at all. Then I got to work, about a 5 mile drive, and the clutch was burning bad. I called roadside and had it towed in. Of course the dealer calls me and want's 1628.00 to replace the clutch. You can guess what I told them, and am now having an issue finding a clutch for an 08 V6 mustang. I heard ford changed the type of clutch, or something with the flywheel? If this is the case, what do ya'll recommend? I know Spec makes one, as I have spoken with them already. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long winded post.

I mainly do highway driving. I wouldn't say that I am particularly hard on my car, honestly I don't have the time to be hard on the car. I drive 4 miles to work each way, and that's it. So the clutch all the sudden going out, doesn't make since. I was looking at the Spec, Valeo has it listed online that they make one, but idk if its correct. I guess ill have to call them tomorrow

Well after everything, ford is actually going to cover the clutch replacement. The dealer found that the pressure plate went out, and caused all the other issues.
