I can't recall if it was an option at first that was later made standard. I know when I was looking to buy mine I went on the Insurance Crash test site (the one that does all the front end collision tests) and I think they had tested the 05 but no later versions, but it had an asterisk stating that the newer models had added side airbags and should get a better rating than the one they tested. The rating was OK on the 05, but they said newer models should score better. That was last year I read that. I just wanted to make certain it wasn't a death trap before I bought it.

I have an 06 pp, I am not sure the manufacture date. But the vin code is F, meaning just driver/passenger. I will have to check on the manufacture date.
