Much better than MDF is HDF, NOVAPLY is the trade name.
Silicone verses plain ol Elmers yellow carpenters glue, the results....
The silicone produces a 3 dB reduction in volume verses the
same box and speakers (JL W6 X 2) constructed with Elmers
yellow wood workers glue.
A 3dB increase is perceived as twice as loud.
Just why would you go to all the trouble to make it loud
and then use a sound attenuating adhesive?
Seams seal just fine with the yellow glue and are much more
rigid.
Been up to 157dBs and learned all the tricks.....

im kinda new to the site but just to add to the discussion, ive always used wood glue. it seems to hold better and makes construction easier.
as far as the trunk situation goes, theyre the same. im surprised that the seller is telling you otherwise. i have yet to see any difference in numbers in the 4 mustangs ive done so far; mine (in progress), an 05, and 2 08s.
and by the way, some comp vr 12s will sound sick in your trunk with the right setup. i did some 10s in the 05 i did and they sounded great. im just curious, but, what amp setup are you thinking about running and where are you going to put it?

man i bet that sounds real clean. im not much of a pioneer fan, as far as their amps go, but they do give a crisp sound, especially paired with that kicker 12.
and hell yeah they rattle. its terrible. ive used all kinds of products to help with rattling vehicles; dynomat, fat mat, bed liner, egg carton foam, even duct tape on the inside of panels. lol. so far the cheapest, and easiest, way ive found to go is fat mat. its pretty much the same as dynomat but much cheaper. if you really want a great sound though, use a combination of fat mat over strips of cabinet liner. ive had great experiences with that.
