Default K&N vs AIRAID

whats up forum? so im thinking of getting a cold air intake system and debating on getting the K&N or AIRAID for the 05+ V6 mustang. i have a 2010 and wondering if it says 05-09 will work on a 10? what one gains more power? they say they dont need tunes so is this true? lets hear your past experiences with either of these products

What do you expect from this CAI?
HP increases beyond your wildest dreams?
Eye candy?
No tune =s no real HP increase.

Unless they stuck some exotic 4.0L under your hood,
the 2010 is the same as the 05-09 physically.
The web sites are just a year behind updating what fits what year models...
I have an AirRaid with the MVT and it works for now with great
sounding intake at WOT and will wake up the beast with the MVT removed and
some timing/fuel table recalculations....
Save up and get one of those C&L intakes and the tune to go with it. $600+ bucks.
Gotta pay to play....

I have the K&N FIPK on now, I can say I like it. I get a nice sound from it and an extra 20-30 miles to the tank. Horsepower gains, meh, not really. But even on their site they say you'll only get an extra 8 HP at 5k rpm, so noticeable increase isn't really expected. I'm glad I paid the 75 I paid for it at the time. Would I pay 300 for it new? Not if I plan on also buying a tune at some point. I will buy a tune eventually, but I figured this would be a good way to save some cash on an intake I can still get tuned

If you're looking for performance get the CAI & tune combo. A stand-alone CAI won't do chit. The tune is the larger % of the combo's power adder. You'd do better with a stand-alone tune than a stand-alone CAI. But the combo is made to make the best of both.

Used CAIs that dont require a tune abound on eBay for a reason.....

I looked up several different CAI brands with the 2009 vs 2010 model years and they are apparently different. If they don't list one for your 2010 model year, we gotta believe that it's different than previous model years. I mean, I'm sure they'd love to sell one for 2010 model years, if they had one.

The Airaid CAI has a specific model for the 2010 V6. I think its called the MXP. The only difference between the '09 model is the air filter shroud due to the changes in the body from 09 to 10
