The extra insurance $$s for the GT would have been $$ down the drain.
At least after he buys the GT kit and exhaust, he will have something to show for it.

www.newtakeoff.com or the link listed above. If they don't have the color you are looking for, you will have to buy a different color and have it painted. I bought a white bumper and had it painted Windveil Blue. It cost me about 200-250 to have it painted and you could never tell.

i put it on myself
its relatively simple besides for taking out the rivets that hold ur rear reflectors in
those things were a pain in the *** to get out
but besides for that it was realtively easy

Check out the classified section here in the Mustang Forums. Sometimes the GT guys switch out. Or can check out your local CraigsList or even eBay.

I installed my front, rear, and rocker panels myself. It is an easy install, you and your dad should be able to do it no problem. Plus there is a HOW TO: article on the forums which walks you through the swap also.

When looking into having something painted, ask if there is a difference in "used, needing repainting" and new just needing original paint. When I did my rear bumper I couldn't find a color match anywhere, so I bought a new one from Ford. The body shop told me that a new one would be cheaper to paint than a used one. There would be less prep/stripping work to be done. My front bumper was repainted before I got the car and was peeling because of improper preperation.
