Default 8.8 rear end swap

well so i got my 8.8 rear end on craigslist for 250. great deal. came with brakes and rotors and control arm. so now i need to get the v6 cobra flange. but one of my gt friends just swapped his gt driveshaft into aluminum. so i was wondering if could use my friends gt's stock driveshaft on my car?

Nope, the transmission end is different
and its a two piece OEM on the GT
and a one piece OEM on the V6.
So no driveshaft/rear end swap from a GT to a V6.

Its Cobra Flange and a new crush sleeve time for you....

The people you get to install the pinion flange
will need a new crush sleeve to pre-set the
pinion bearing preload. If the installers are
worth a grain of salt, they will be able to provide
one to do the job correctly.

My question to you is why the need for the 7.5 to 8.8 swap.
Are you dumping more than 500HPs into the 7.5 rear end?
What kind of power adder do you have for your V6 that
produces enough HP to warrant the purchase and swap?
You really need to add the GT rear springs and GT rear shocks
for the added unsprung weight of the rear end or wheel hop
will invade your life and dig in deep...

Do you just want the T-Loc? Thats do-able for under $300
in a 7.5 rear end.

The 7.5 to 8.8 swap has cons that need to be outweighed
by some HP pros

o ic... yea a shop is doin it for me.

the shop advised me to do a 8.8 rear swap cuz. imma be drifting this car a lot. and plus i got this rear end for $250. so it was either 170 for gears and 209 dollars for posi. yea who wouldnt take that 250 rear end.

plus im gonna plan on doing a engine swap in the future. my friend and i r planning swapping our engines to a 2011 5.0 v8. if i need to put shocks and rear springs. no problem cuz my friend has them. its great to hav a GT friend who does a crap load of modding lol.

You will be fine on stock suspension with your 8.8 and current setup.

You got a good deal on the rear end, btw.
Having a 8.8 gave me peace of mind, as I no longer worry about breaking the weak 7.5.
