Thats normal operation for any automotive AC unit.
You cant just turn on the compressor for a few minutes then off fo a few minutes.
It dont work that way...

The compressor is working off the high side pressure switch.
When enough freon is compressed, it stops compressing.
When the pressure drops, it start to cycle again...

Also the hissing you might hear after the engine is shut off
is the compressed freon escaping into the evaporator coil
thru the orifice fitting...
Just to kill your next question in advance....

AC DIAGRAM and all the other wiring diagrams online...

The climate control module handles all the climate controls....

Dont take offense but you do not sound as you know what you are doing. As 7 up mustang has already told you it takes specialized training and you are going to cause more problems and make it more expensive to repair. You are going after modules and it may just be a little low on refridgerant. Do yourself a favor and take it to someone who has the training to repair it.

special thanks to 157db, you were very helpful with all these different diagrams, including the AC one, the AC is now working properly, I was told that the problem came from some kind of a control module that gave wrong information about pressure but it's been fixed and now everything is OK, thank you once again, I really appreciate your help and the rest of the guys who took part in my problem.

Default A/C problem/mustang V6

Hello,
I'm having trouble with my A/C , it works but air doesn't come out of the vents , it's coming out only from the upper front console where the defrost comes out.
Can anybody tell me what could this be ?
thanks.

Why would my AC Compressor cycle on and off even though the AC is off? 2005 Mustang Base 4.0. Compressor is charged.
Thanks for any help
