Default question on GT's vs aftermarket mufflers

I have 2010 v6 deciding on mufflers for running duals.
Is there any real difference from putting two GT manual takeoffs on or running an aftermarket like flowmaster, pypes, etc? aside from the sound?

Its my understanding no real performance is gained from a muffler swap anyways?

Thoughts?

There's no real gain by just swapping out axlebacks/mufflers. Converting single to duals you ''free up'' some hp and even that's not a whole lot. I think the only real difference between axlebacks is basically sound and drone. Borla claims that theirs help with the loss of low end torque and backpressure issues but I've heard that that's a myth.

Different headers & mid-pipes is where you might see some performance gains along with sound differences

Basically if you go duals just mid pipe and mufflers/muffler deletes your doing it for looks and sound not performance. Do a search on youtube for all the different setups if you go duals that's the best way to do your research. GT takeoffs are probably the cheapest route to go.

It's mostly just the sound/look of it. Well worth it IMO

If at any point you plan on going FI you'll want the duals. They help with air flow and as already mentioned by the X Extreme boys the duals do show a HP increase over the stock single exhaust.

Personally, I have the Pypes conversion kit from AM with GT takeoff muffles. I love it. Really did help in power and gas mileage, and the sound is way better than stock. The GT mufflers let you have that deep engine sound over the raspy loud crap a lot of aftermarket mufflers give. Stick with GT takeoffs!
