I JUST GOT SCREWED! IM AM SO PISSED

I was having Lincoln Motors in Stanford, Kentucky install an H-pipe and dual GT Take-offs. THEY DID BY FAR THE WORST/ MOST EXPENSIVE JOB EVER! I took the car down to them last night and they told me they would start in the morning, this worked out best for me anyway because I wanted to be there when they were installing everything anyway. So I head down at about 10, and see how they are getting along, they tell me that they will not be able to start on it for a while because some parts just came in on a car that is ahead of me... Im in no rush, so I take it in stride and decide to come back later, after work. So here is where the dumb asses take over, they start working on my car while I was at work, and completely destroy the conversion. Someone apparently had the bright idea that Ford had the mounts for the hangers on wrong so they decide to cut the hanger on the muffler and weld it in different, then when the tip didn't come out of the bumper correctly they decided, eh, maybe ford did have it right. So they cut off their "personalized" version of the hanger and re-welded it back into ford's original hanger.

Now for the actual pipes, they forgot that I wanted an H-Pipe and just gave me straight pipes and didn't think I would notice. The bends they put in the pipe look like a three year old and a monkey did it. Easily the WORST bending job I have ever seen. They are a 2.5" pipe that is creased and pinched down to 1.5" maybe even 1" in places. Especially over the axle.

And the rattling, jesus the rattling! The idiots mounted the pipe where it actually HITS the rear axle, Im not ****ting you.

I had to work so freakin late I had to have my girlfriend pick it up from the shop before it closed so that I could have the car tonight, so of course I didn't have a chance to look it over in front of them nor negotiate a price.

I am embarrassed to tell you how much they wanted paid... $180.

Needless to say I have already called the shop owners house and went off, he agreed to cut the pipes off and give me my money back. The worst part is, the reason I took it to Stanford Motors is because the guy is a family friend and usually does good work... this however is terrible.. Pics will be up later tonight, and I will take off work tomorrow to watch them take the pipes off, Ill snap some pics of their ****ty ass job.

Good god man your making me cringe about having mine put on.

you shouldn't worry about it. Its not that hard to do? anyone with any car sense can do it, unfortunately I had this guy installing mine...http://shell.abtech.org/%7Etully/tri...A_mechanic.jpg

ha not really

How hard can it be installing an H Pipe and GT takeoffs? :icon_really:

I sat and watched when mine were installed. If I had the proper tools, lift and parts, I feel as if it's something I could do myself

If you're getting it redone, I'd whole heartedly suggest going to a good, custom exhaust shop. They should know exactly what to do. That's what I did, I try to avoid using the dealership at all costs

Im going to the guy I was initially going to go to. Does anyone else find the 180 insanely expensive?

legendlime05 06-02-2010 06:59 PM

i had my local exhaust shop quote 200 to do it, BUT i know they wouldve done an amazing job.

$180 is not a bad price (IF it were done correctly)....

Hope it goes better when you get it redone.

I paid $225 for mine, mainly because they fabricated a hanger for me. I will say this, no vibrations or rattles! Only complaint is I wish they would not have had the tips sticking out so far....but it does look like an old muscle car.
