Installed my K&N CAI today!
Not much change in sound , but a noticeable change in power. It just feels smoother... hard to explain. I hope it gets me a few more MPGs. I'll post more as I drive it more.
I can tell you it was incredibly easy to install. Those who take their CAIs to the shop are wasting their money. It literally took me less than an hour, and that was with going back and forth to the fridge to get my 2-year old refills on his sippy cup. The hardest part was that stupid seal that goes on the heat shield, but even that wasn't as bad as it was on the K&N FIPK I installed in my Chevy Avalanche.
Here's some pics:

When you rev the engine, then let off the gas (in neutral), it sputters and makes a kinda backfiring noise. In my experience, either an H-pipe or an intake relieves the problem.

is the K&N CAI what everyone reccomends?

I think people like the K&N and the AFE. The AFE to me still seems like it's in development. Both claim to not trigger the CEL, but the AFE has on occasion.
If you plan on tuning the car, you might want to go with the MMR with the nice tube. It's expensive, but is rumored to move the most air. It will definitely set off the CEL w/o a tune, though...

By the way, I chose the K&N because I trust the name. I've used K&Ns for years and never EVER had a problem with them. When they tell me it won't set off the CEL, I believe them.
If it does, I know they'll send me a new intake.

I'm leaning towards the AEM Brute Force. It looks sweet compared to the K&N. Those were the two I had it narrowed down to. Now just waiting for the money
