v6, reasons are that you are talking about night and day difference in vehicles.

1. rear wheel drive can be hard to get used to for some people vs your current front wheel drive

2. the v6 has 305 hp vs your current 90 hp

3. the gt has like 412 hp, you should get used to the RWD and the extra power before you try a 400+ hp sports car.

Not to sound like an @ss, but a lot of younger people buy a mustang and aren't used to the RWD and extra hp over moms honda and endup wrapping it around a light pole. Nobody wants to see you (or others) hurt, or a pile of mustang pieces.

Just a friendly word of advice. And welcome to the forums, pictures and details of a car when you pick on out. Happy hunting.

I bought a 2008 V6 mustang. If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought the GT.

Assuming you have the money to do either option reasonably....

IMO, go with the GT, b/c if you get the V6, once you do get use to the power, you're going to be wanting more...and then you might end up kicking yourself for not getting the GT.

^^ this is true, but a relativly new driver with a 210 hp bump ends in disaster.

Yeah, I just want that "pulled to your seat" feeling. Seen some youtube videos and the GT is just horrendously fast. I'm leaning more towards the V6 since you can always mod down the road right? I just needed some input. Thanks, I agree with your pole statement completely.

Could be very true. I'm 30, and statistics do show that young drivers (18) are WAY more likely to wrap their cars around trees....put him a 412hp muscle car, and it could be a recipe for disaster. LOL! Then again, maybe not.

At the end of the day Pe3Nut, test drive both of them. See which one you like, which one you can reasonably and financially afford for the next 6-7 years, then make the call.

Yes, you can always mod down the road, and hell, 305hp is frickin' awesome. It's more than the 05-09 GT's have. I didn't start modding my 08 V6, performance wise, until a year after I got it.

I'd go with the V6 pretty much for the reasons stated above.

Suddenly having 3 times the HP, plus adjusting to RWD is a large adjustment as it is. My general experience is that much past 300HP, cars can be a handful if not driven with finesse and some experience (just search Youtube for "mustang crash" to see plenty of folks who got a little too enthusiastic in a high HP car)

305HP is more than enough to be quite thrilling, and being a young guy, I'm assuming not being in a huge car loan would be a plus too.

I'd beg to differ you on this one sir. Just cuz on paper it has 5more hp doesn't mean its better. Ill take a 05-09 GT anyday of the week and beat anyone in a 2011 v6 (stock v. stock). It'd be close but The v6 has 305 horsepower and 280 foot-pounds. While the 05-09 GT's have 300 hp and 320 lbs of torque.

As for the OP. I suggest doing whichever one makes you happy and you that you can afford. IMO i don't think you should ever have to take a loan to purchase a car. If you can't afford it in full either save up or purchase something different. I'd look into a 06 or 07 GT if it were me. It'd cost less in more than 1 way. Then maybe use your left over cash if you chose for Mods.

Just my 2cent. Good Luck and welcome to MF.

You also have to take into account your insurance cost difference... I'm 19 and I can tell you a GT is a good amount more insurance wise.
