This is why it is a good idea to get a blank pats key or two off ebay and have them cut and entered into the cars computer while you still have two. Like making a back up set while its cheep. It gets expensive to involve the dealer.

Yep, first thing I did in the mod dept for the new S197...

Got four working keys and four working fobs for under $50.
Cheap insurance...

Remote Programming:

How to reprogram your remote entry transmitters
You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of six)
available before beginning this procedure.

Note: Ensure the brake pedal is not
depressed during this sequence.

To reprogram the remote entry
transmitters:

1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.

2. Put the key in the ignition.

3. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position and 3 (ON). (Full cycles, meaning go back AND
forth 8 times for a total of 16 turns of the key.)

Note: The eighth turn must end in the 3 (ON) position. The doors will
lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been
activated.

4. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that
this remote entry transmitter has been programmed.

5. Repeat Step 4 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.

6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position after you have
finished programming all of the remote entry transmitters. Note: After
20 seconds, you will automatically exit the programming mode. The
doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has
been exited.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've had to reprogram a FOB before. I know I only did it with one FOB and all the remaining FOBs continued to work after. I think my only options are the dealer or shotgun. Shells are cheaper.

She didn't get a key. Only one of the extra FOBs I have in the console.

aha now the plot thickens! be very careful with that one.

i remolded a guys house years ago and re keyed his house with a master set up. his key worked all the locks. the gardeners key only worked the gates and his girlfriends worked everything but the deadbolts! man i would have loved to be there the one day she went to unlock one of the dead bolts if they were still together. oh gee honey your key must be bad!

"Mastered" locks are 100% easier to pic by design.
specially the cheap 'kwikpics'
I had 2 fords and cut one side of the key for one vehicle and the other side of the key for the other vehicle.
One key, two different rides.
Just put the right side up for the particular vehicle.
This was before PATS but the system should handle this.
Now to go buy another mustang and do it again...

I use the fingerprint ID lock for the front door.
Shes gonna have to cut my finger off to get in that one...
