Nope the base stereo is just a swap out like any other, although the dash kit isn't cheap since it replaces the stock climate controls also. I just kept my stock stereo and added a sound processor since the metra kit I ordered never came and it sounds great. I won't even think of replacing it until it dies now lol.

Love listening to the sound of my engine and exhaust any day over the stereo.

Have to agree with you prefer the sound of an engine over a loud *** sound system any day. The shaker 500 is fine for me but then again I'm not much interested in spending money on a sound system when I could spend it on some go mods. My sound system is the dual exhaust sitting in the garage set to go on any day now.

haha i dont mean a thumping system i just listen to rock, and i want some with a crisp sound, i to love the sound of a engine, when i drive my friends ZO6, i never turn on the radio! :P

I know what you mean, I used to compete in pro car audio competitions, and I play guitar in a band also. I just lost the desire for car audio a long time ago, and usually I have the windows down, and I am listening to the engine

But I agree with the clarity comment.
