Default V6 to V6 swap ?!?

Yes I'm out of my mind. I have an 06 4.0L with about 80,000 miles on it. As I look into the future and ponder what is going to happen when this motor is done I am thinking about swapping it out for the new 3.7L. I know the 2011 tranny is new as well. Has anyone thought about doing this?

I would love to see that done, and a cost breakdown as well. I say within 1 year it will be done, but not before someone swaps out the 5.0.

I've already thought about what I'll do when my 4.0 is tired. I honestly can't see me putting in another 6cyl. But thats sure an upgrade still. If you do it you gotta post a write-up for us.

I've thought about this but if I did a swap I'd do a 4.6L more then likely because its a direct bolt in with new tranny, rear, ect...

You would probably have to replace a bunch of stuff. ECU, PCM, fabbed motor mounts, engine, tranny, custom DS, wiring harness, gauge cluster. I don't know if you would need all that but thats what I got off the top of my head. Two words, money pit.

I posted about this a few months ago... I would love to do it but it would be way to expensive. I hate to say it but save the money and either buy a new car or put a crate motor in it and go carbureted. No computer mess to deal with. Someone has already swapped their 4.0L to a 426 Ford Hemi

It would be cheaper, much cheaper actually to use the 4.6 as the others have said... You could buy a donor car for the price it would take for just the engine and motor mounts the 3.7 will take, not including computer and other things such as gauges. I would think the engine mounts would be a small fortune in themselves.

Money Pit- perfect explanation

OK here goes nothing... dont flame me, Im really only asking, not bashing

I just dont see the draw of FI our 6's, everyone seems to agree that going FI costs about the same as a swap? Correct?
Well if it costs the same why would you not go up to a V8? Ok so a FI 6 can beat a stock 4.6, but once you mod a 4.6 does it not make it more powerful? I just dont see the advantage of going FI to be beaten by a slightly modded V8.

again Im only asking you guys to explain the thinking here, Im looking into a V8 swap but if you make a good point you may sway me. dont flame me please!
