Default Cutting the rear bumper

Hey yall, this is my first post in the forum so go easy on me.

I have a 2007 V6 and I want to convert it to dual exhaust. I want to cut the bumper, yes I know buying a GT style bumper is an option but I personally like the smooth look of the V6 bumper better. So heres the first of two questions:

1) For those of you that cut your bumper yourself, what did you use to do it and what level of difficulty would you rate it?

2) For those of you that had a shop cut it, I'd like to know how much it cost you to have it done?

Thanks in advance!

i used an air saw. made a templet with paper measured to check. on a 1-10 its like a 2. there have been others that had a printout for a templet, but i found it just as easy to make one.

If you don't have a power saw, a hacksaw blade and elbow grease will do the trick for you.

i used blue masking tape and a dremil tool . used the cutting tool to get close then used the drum sander to finish it off. if your car is a light color use touch up paint to cover the exposed cut end as it will be black. some have also used sandpaper wrapped around a wine bottle to finish it off. but you need to finish it before drinking the wine or you may make a mistake. but then again you may need to drink the wine to get up the nerve to cut the bumper. kind of sucks dont it!

I used the Pypes template, then I drilled a series of small holes along the mark. I used a box cutter to "connect the dots" (the bumper is very easy to cut into, and there isn't anything behind it that you can damage.

Then I wrapped sand paper around an empty wine bottle (Tom - that bottle isn't going to empty itself you know!) and smoothed out and shaped the cut

The "connect the dots" technique makes it easy all you have to do is well... connect the dots lol. I used the same method.

i know it might be an expensive option, but did you check ebay? i know your not the only one who likes this look better, but you may find a V6 bumper precut.

I cut my own. Kind of nerve-racking but...measure 3 times and cut once. I used painters tape and drew the template onto the tape and used my jig saw to cut it out. It cut like butter. Piece of cake really. Go ahead and do it yourself, very simple job.

I didn't use a downloaded template, I made my own by copying the passenger side that way I knew it would match exactly and it does. I really like how mine turned out.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

The template from NTO is right on the money for your model, not so much for the 10 v6! Maybe they sent me the wrong template but I'm still extremely satisfied!

The moral of the story is the best bet is just to use the templet from Pypes I believe.
