Should I swap out for an 8.8 rear or go with the stock + 4.10 and t-lock?

I live in houston, north side in kingwood/spring. $700 sounds like a great deal! I just realized that ford doesn't make 7.5 4.10 gears though so I'd have to go with another brand. Why did you go with the 3.73's? is your's a manual? This car is and will continue to be my daily so I don't plan to run it at the strip more than a couple times for kicks I just want that extra umpf so the 4.10's are ideal am I right?

That 8.8 kit for $950 looks appealing but won't it bog down my car since I don't have a charger or major power adders?

I'm willing to drop 1k and replace the entire rear end with an 8.8 but do y'all think it would be ideal for only having an intake/exhaust/tune?

So, I when out and purchased OEM ford 3.73 gears for $250. after that install, gears still whined and it was louder than before. long story short both times the pinion bearing failed due to install preload. I took it to a third party they opened the diff and found the bearing in pieces. Tried to file a CC claim to get the $175 back and Gearhead lied saying i gave them used gears.

PS Gearheads was a recommended shop from several forums. purchased a 3.55 8.8 from Roush for $250 and it been perfect for 15k miles.
Ouch, I'd hate to have to go through something like that.

I'd say the 7.5 would be fine for your usage. just make sure the installer will stand behind there work before you get anything installed. If I had to do it again i wouldnt let anyone touch it unless they put it in writing.

Cool. Once again thanks for all the input everyone! Now I need to find a solid shop around here that I like and will do the work for me. Where do y'all recommend purchasing the parts from? Looks like I will go with the Ford racing 7.5 tlock I can get from American Muscle for 220ish. WHat about the gears though? Ford racing doesn't make the 7.5 4.10's so what are some good names for the gears? I hear motive's whine a lot although I realize that installation has a lot to do with how smooth everything works out in the end.

Any recommendations for the north houston area? I see PSI down in the south side and slaters suggested as well over closer to me by the humble area.

I see, thanks for the advice!

Good catch I would have looked like an idiot =P It should be 13.6 I fixed it =)

I ran 14.7 and 14.8 before the bolt-ons then I did 2 runs after and ran 13.9 and a 13.6 with a good lauch and no tire spin! Hence why I am looking for the tlock/gear swap =)

:edit:I saw a few stock gt's doing mid 13's so I figure after the tlock/gear swap I should be on par with them w/o going into turbo/super charger territory.
