If you believe it doesn't require a tune, then install it. If you throw a cel, then go back to the stock tune until you can get a custom tune. But don't expect anywhere near the 12 HP gain they advertise. Real-life figures are more like 4-6 w/o a tune, 20-25 with a tune. And don't expect a fuel mileage improvement either.

The Roush CAI is made by Airaid, which is the same CAI I have. The Airaid CAI does not require tune and will not throw any codes. As far as performance, you will only feel mimimal gains at the higher RPM ranges, possibly 5-7 HP gain. However, once you get a tuner and upload a custom tune, you will notice a drastic change in performance!!! From experience, I highly recommend getting a tuner at a later date.

Thanks guys

Like I said, I'm definitely going to get a tune, in the future, but for now will run it without one until I have the cash on hand (Maybe at tax season)

I appreciate the responses

8180Designs....
Have you installed your Roush CAI?
If so, what are your thoughts?

I went ahead, and did the install.

I gotta say, I can definitely feel a difference, seems more responsive, and lets me maneuver easily on the freeway when passing others.

The best part? 2 more MPGs, according to my dash readout. Right now getting between 25-26 miles per gallon.

I can only imagine how much more my car will benefit from my CAI once I get a tune....

AWESOME! You will feel a HUGE difference once you load a custom tune. However, you may not see any changes in your gas mileage due to stomping on the accelaration more frequently to feel the newly added power!!! =-)

Yea, I could see that happening....

I think a tune, unfortunately, is still a while away.

A long while.

Ah, but grasshopper....

The new and improved Airaid CAI has whats called MVT.

The secret to AIRAID’s new 2005-2006 Mustang GT V8 Intake
System is the Modular Venturi Tube which is found inside the intake.
The removable MVT assures correct air/fuel ratios at all rpm ranges.
It is also removable for additional air flow capabilities with
customer-provided custom electronic tuning.

MODULAR VENTURI TECHNOLOGY

AIRAID’s hot, new intake system for the 2005-2006 Mustang GT V-8
(p/n 450-172) is actually two intake systems in one. AIRAID’s newest
Cool Air Dam intake utilizes Modular Venturi Technology to generate an
additional 17 horsepower and 21 lb/ft of torque while maintaining proper
air and fuel ratios across the entire RPM range. The system boasts a
4-inch roto-molded intake tube, larger than any other intake on the
market for a BEEFY look, that is mated to a lightweight composite Cool Air Dam.
What makes AIRAID’s system different from the rest is the Modular Venturi Tube.
The MVT is what maintains proper air/fuel ratios with the stock electronic tuning.

But in order to take advantage of such serious performance bolt on such as high-lift
camshafts, big-port cylinder heads, headers and other high-performance parts, the
MVT can be removed for even more horsepower and torque gains provided customer-supplied
custom electronic tuning is installed.
This gives serious Mustang performance enthusiasts
the ability to retain the AIRAID intake as they add serious performance upgrades to the car
without worrying about the need to upgrade the air intake for added air flow.

So thats a pretty blanket response as to it not needing a tune...

CAIs that dont require a tune dont respond very well to custom tunes.
Its physically impossable.
