Default Any tips on washing off the V6 after a dusty road trip?

I just took my little horse on a 900+ round trip from NorCal to Northern NV and back. I washed the exterior. Any tips on engine maintenance? I read the manual and it states to get a Motorcraft "shampoo and degreaser" concoction and to cover "hghlighted" parts as stated in the owner's manual. I will do this next week...but I wanted to ask you VETERANS out there for some advice. Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

TO avoid getting the spots out, use that Mr. Clean kit with the special filter. I have hard well water that always caused many many white spots. No more spots...period. Just a final rinse with the Mr. Clean stuff and spots are no more. It is one of the few products that delivers on its marketing hype.

That is a very good article rygenstormlocke, thanks for the info. I have a black stang, so it's hard to keep clean and keep the water spots off. About this sqeegy thing though, won't that scratch that paint? It would be nice to take the water off really quickly, but wouldn't that scratch the paint?

No problem man, your ride is sweet looking! Though it's a good article, I still have yet in my life to wash a car with no spots...regardless of color. I always have to have someone else do it, then I follow up on the detailing.

Really, the Mr. Clean no spot spray/filter thing means no spots and no drying. Had a black S2000 and a black SVT Focus and spots were a thing of the past using that.

Right on, I will check that out. What part of MD are you in? I'm in northern VA, near DC.
