To get it totally fixed, then have the new tank put in. If you can deal with the nozzle thing then your o.k. I'm out of warranty so I deal with it when it happens, which is not very often. It seems to happen with the older pumps. It's one of the little quirks our cars have. I had the hood corrosion but was lucky to be under warranty and have it fixed for zero dollars. Good luck with your fuel tank.

You can have the gas tank replaced with the new design like it says on the TSB.

There are work-arounds posted in numerous threads on this subject. Many, many owners (thru the '07's and probably beyond) have this issue also, so don't feel like you're alone. Turning the handle 90 degrees or even 180 degrees, slowing the fuel flow as much as possible, using a different gas station, standing on your head and whistling dixie... Even the TSB doesn't seem to resolve the problem.

Have you read the other few dozen TSB's on these S197's???

Have you owned it since 2005 new?
Or was it purchased USED?
It might already have had the TSB done to it...
Maybe the one way valve just inside the fuel tank for rolover protection is the cuase....

There was a guy that fixed it by blowing out a certain filter the the main gas line but don't remember exactly what it was I will try to get a picture of the part

Over the past couple of weeks i started experiencing issues when filling up my gas tank. As soon as I start to get the pump flowing, it just shuts off?? I have to repeat 8-15 times in order to fill up my gas tank. How annoying!
I purchased my car over 4 years ago and never had any issues before.
What is the cause?
