Default Questions about shakers. Please help

Im looking at the CDC shaker at american muscle and have a few questions.
I know it helps with air flow but what else does a shaker system due exactly?
Is it really worth the $800 dollars?
Is there increases in hp, fuel economy, anything?
Does it make the car sound better?
Finally if it goes on my every day driving car will rain mess it up?

And a little insight on my car, it is a 2006 v6, everyday driving car, with CAI, and dual exhaust

I read a lengthy article that dealt with CAI, ram air induction and so on. The conclusion was that a shaker hood will not do anything for you from the sandpoint of performance. At least no more so than any run of the mill CAI. Remember the famous Ram Air firebirds? Pure gimmick. It made no difference in the car's performance over standard air intake systems.

It's cosmetic other than perhaps reducing heat soak by an imperceptible amount.

When you guys say that, are you saying it is as useless (or useful, depends on how you see it) as a stand alone CAI, meaning it is nice with a tune, or it is literally useless?

It's 800 dollars and installation is no cake walk for the shaker. It won't get you anything more than a standard BBK (or similar) no tune CAI that doesn't require you to cut your hood and only takes 15 or 20 minutes to install. Make sense?

But it adds 100 hp to the looks. Rain doesnt bother it. You can tie it into a CAI. Helps vent underhood heat.

If you look on eBay you may be able to find one cheaper. I got mine for a GT for $549.00 with free shipping. Doesn't do a thing for horsepower but I love the look.

Here's what I did after I installed my Ford Racing CAI...

Got this from O'Reilly's auto...

It is mainly for looks - but it does look nice! The shaker kit itself doesn't change your stock air box so it doesn't need a tune as far as I can recall. If you upgrade your intake (like D'prived) then just as you would without the shaker you need to tune the car.

Like others have said only for looks I did see a slight inprovement in MPG probably from the cooler air getting in under the hood. I do alot of highway driving.

Gorgeous pics D'prived. just wondering can you notice the shaker actually shaking under acceleration or revving?
