Default Increasing Horsepower

Hello all. So Im pretty new to cars. Im not very technical and know all the names of things and what to buy for this or that.

Ok, so Im looking into increasing the horsepower on my 2008 V6. I plan on getting it dyno tested so I can track my horse power gain after upgrades.

I need advice on what to buy to increase horsepower. My knowledge is very limited at the moment since Im knew. I know about turbo and super chargers(I cant afford these), cold air intakes, tuners, and thats it.

So if yall could put together a list of things that increase horsepower I would be extremely grateful. But, they cant break the bank meaning Im looking at it to be under 1,500 bucks.

Thanks

well your best bet is starting off with some dual exhaust (probably H pipe), then a C&L Cold Air Intake, and Tuner, preferable from bama tunes so they can configure your car with the most horsepower. after that you'll probably have spent around 1000 dollars. so you can get some gears ( i dont know alot about) and then maybe headers but they dont give a whole lot of gains.

This is true.

Anyways......

A common and smart approach to getting more power out of your mustang is CAI w/tune, dual exhaust, and steeper gears (usually 3.73s for autos, 4.10s for manuals).

Welcome to the forums.
A Tune and CAI. Sorry Nuke, beat you to it.
I have the AM-Bama tunes with a C&L CAI.
Most of the gain comes from the tune. I ran a tune with the
stock air box for a year. The tune made quite a difference.
When I added the CAI and new tunes, I noticed a minimal gain from the CAI.
I have duals with an H pipe and an 8.8 rear with 3.73's.
Minimal (if any) HP gains with duals, but they look and sound good.
The gears provide quicker acceleration with no HP gain.
Enjoy the forums.

search is your best friend

$1500? SSM stage 2+ heads *cough*

Of course after you do that you'll want/need to do intake and exhaust tune preferred but not required for the heads

Ya, I was planning on buying the new takeoff dual exhaust kit, The CAI and tune, and the gears. The heads will have to wait awhile since they are a pretty pricey.

Heads are the things that send air in to the cylinders. where your valves are. SuperSixMotorsports heads are ported/bored so they are larger so while the valves are open more air can move in and out. Excellent gains. The best you will get without a super charger, turbo charger, or nitrous.

Gives good peak gains, but more importantly excellent nonpeak gains. basically you will make a lot more torque a lot faster, great dyno curve too which means you're gonna pull hard almost to redline
