Default Stroker, Heads and Cams

I've been doing some looking around using the search function, Im interested in possibly the thought of the Morana Racing stroker kit 4.0to a 4.3 assuming it will work for our mustangs. Other option would be heads and cams, which I've seen many people ask about. Im unsure if SSM is back to doing the cams yet but it also appears that Tom Morana has heads and cams for us as well. Any thoughts on pro or cons on either option would be great. It even looks like Morana has 2 options for cams.

If you're a DD I would recommend going the route I would like to; Stage 2+ heads. SSM's stage 2+ put out excellent gains and are safe to do! I asked Morana for dynos of his heads on NA set ups but never got a response.

intakes, heads, headers, dual exhaust, and a tune should bring your torque up to around a stock SOHC New Edge GT (99-04) or maybe higher. That's about 300lbs at ~3900rpms.

Of course I don't have a dyno for all these mods and proper tuning but I think with full bolts ons you should be able to hit 300lbs+ at the crank. Probably about 265-70 horsepower at the crank.

If you do this, I would consider an 8.8" rear end from a GT.

Please post dyno's and costs as you do this.

I think the Stage 2+ heads installed by a shop would be about $2k then add a dyno tune.

You already have duals, finish it with headers that flow a little better. And of course you'll need to feed it with a better than stock intake, get a cold air kit.

one guy did a head/cam work and added larger injectors with great results but it was a custom application on an NA and the shop did it for the owner, won't do it for customers. Excellent gains on the dyno though.

To my knowledge the stroker doesn't bore out the walls, simply increases the length stroke of the piston, so it wouldn't really thin up the walls any. Unless I'm mistaken. I'm really considering doing one of these options in the coming months, getting ready to do another Mechanical Engineering Internship and getting paid pretty good money for it. any more thoughts or advice would be awesome.

My understanding of the Morana stroker kit is that it uses aluminum rods - not friendly for a daily driver. They will stretch over time and should be replaced regularly. It is a good option for a dedicated track car, but not a daily driver which sees some track use.

cold air intake, stage 2+ heads, shorty headers (unless your ok spending the money for longtubes), dual exhaust (2.5" with a good set of mufflers), a tune, and an 8.8" GT take off rear end with T-Lok and 3.73 or 4.10 gears.

The above is your safest yet still impressive/fun NA set up. shop around and take deals when you see them.

I sent an E0-mail to Morana about heads but never got a response, I did however talk to SuperSix a lot, they are very fast to respond and answer and question you ask. I even got responses over the weekend. They told me with the proper tune that the stage 3 heads/cams were very streetable.

About how much RWHP/RWTQ gain would you see from just stage 2+ headers and the dyno tune?

http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/p...Cdynotest1.pdf

The bottom half of that .PDF has the dyno from a single muffler automatic with out an intake or tune with stage 2+ heads

The non peak gains in particular are so appetizing. I really want the stage 2+'s but I don't want to spend $2k to get there.

Mustang dynos often show lower numbers than actual because they apply resistance to show what you can expect.

Dyno queens use dynojet numbers.

Imagine having 220lbs of torque at 1900rpms, for our V6's that is nuts without any power adders.
