Stuck With A Choice

Look at the brake pedal in the 07. If it is worn out at all, especially in the lower right corner, then those miles were hard stop-and-go miles. If it looks nice and new, then there were a lot of freeway miles in there.

I would take a blue shop towel and run it along the lower edge of the passenger's right kick panel right where it meets the floor board. If you see any sign of moisture, that would be the pony I would pass on. Also check the rear lights including brake and backup lights. They should all work properly and not be on when they are not suppose to. That is also a sign of moisture in the wrong places.
BTW, welcome to the club. My first car was a Mustang too.

There are big advantages to both cars. The best way to choose is to GET A MECHANIC TO CHECK BOTH OUT and if they both are great mechanically MAKE SURE TO BRING IT TO A BODY SHOP and have them look everything over to make sure nothing looks wrong.

I have a 2007 with 75,000 miles. I replaced the water pump last month and the rear brake pads earlier this year. at 50,000 miles I had a problem with the crankshaft pulley but Ford said mine was defective and they had never seen the issue before, It was repaired for free.
Overall my 2007 has been VERY reliable and help up great, (im not an easy driver, I and VERY aggresive) However a co-worker bouhgt his wife an 05 and they had little problems out of it until they traded it in 07. I drive 38 miles to work 4 days a week, Never had an issue with the car. Every once and a while the windows wont jump back into place but mechanically the car is very solid and still rides smooth evern over the poor roads in my area. Cant speak for the 05, but my 2007 with auto has been a great car and I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off.

I recently purchased my first car at the age of 17, which happens to be a 2008 v6, go with the 07 to be safe base on what others are saying. It's cheaper, and at such a young age you and I hopefully wont be driving a ton, so the miles wont rack up. Good luck.
