Default SHAKER 500 RADIO - 2008

OK, this is my my 4th attempt at posting here. I am new to the forum. My first Mustang was a 1970 302 automatic coupe, light metallic blue with a black vinyl top and black intr'r. and AM radio. Divorce was the demise of the 1970 coupe. Fast forward 17 years, I traded my beloved 1995 Buick Riviera supercharged coupe for a 2008 Mustang V-6 convertible about two months ago - fun car

Two Items:

The display cover on the face plate of the Shaker 500 radio is badly scratched and gouged

Also the grommet for the power socket above the radio is missing.

Does anyone have a source for these two items.

Thanx in advance

Gary

You can go to eBay and order an Aux. plug. I have one like this;

As far as the face plate, I'm not sure unless there is a way to refinish it.

Classifieds here, or ebay for 05-09 console, usually sold as a single piece, and salvage from that. You can try to find the pieces themselves for sale, which sometimes happen, but it's usually the console trim section as a whole that's being sold from a salvage car.

Face plate you'd have to pull the thing apart and try to buff it out if your that concerned about it. Otherwise, same deal. Usually about 30-60 bucks for the 500 shaker Headunits. Unless you have the satellite or other specialized options...well, that'd just be an opinion, so I'll refrain. I have no idea what you have in mind, you might just be trying to keep everything as stock as possible.

I would just take some hand polish and try that. Might help a little. Mine is a bit messed up too, but I figure I will get an aftermarket one soon, so I don't care.

If the Shaker is badly scratched, you have nothing to lose by trying some jewlers rouge on it. That may restore it.

I lost the cap for the accessory outlet and someone on the forum who had installed a billet cover sent me theirs as a freebie. Don't be ashamed to ask around.

Thanx for the replies, all. The issue main with the display lens, is that it is severely gouged as though the previous owner had some device that really did a job on it. The aux power socket is missing and looks ugly with out the grommet

Okl, I will try e-Bay and Craigs List

Again, thanx

cheers

donīt forget the classifieds here with a search as well. usually a bunch of fairly good stuff for less than the other sites, since they can avoid some of the other hassles here.

Ahahaha, yeah I wish. I went to 7 junkyards around where I live, all good sized, and found 1 with mustang parts. They didn't have an actual wrecked stang, just a few pieces. And they wanted way too much. 1400 dollars for an 8.8 axle off of a wrecked GT with 3.55s and 68K miles. No thanks. I can get a virtually new one from NTO with 3.73s for 850 bucks. 400 dollars for a scratched up front bumper from a GT with the wrong color paint? Nah. Not much else.
