Default My motor build ideas

So my plan is buy a motor from a junk yard car tear it apart clean it buy the heads and cams have them installed or see about doing it myself then swap motors and get the tunes for it. Looking at about $4000 depending if I do everything my self or not. Now can any tuner do a tune for it or where am I going to have to get the tunes? Any ideas or help would be great before I start.

If you're talking about a V6 motor, I've considered a similar idea. Finding a low mileage 4.0, having heads, cam and all the goodies installed while it's out of the car (would save a lot on labor since the motor needs to be pulled to install a cam) and maybe putting a turbo or supercharger on top of that. That would be a nasty set up but more of a pipe-dream than anything. If you're really interested in this, there's a thread on mustangcollective.com about someone building a 4.1L super motor (http://mustangcollective.com/showthread.php?t=34086), along with all kinds of crazy schit

I've considered the V8 route too, but that wouldn't be nearly as impressive

good idea but u know for the 4k u have budgeted u could pretty much get an x. especially a used one. but i would understand if you want it all done up before you get the x tho too that makes sense since you dont have to pull an engine for that kind of work

I'm kinda an all motor fan so that's what I'm starting with plus I love the sounds of a cam.
