should i paint the rims?
So I'm about to pick up some 2010 gt rims for my 2006 v6. Should I paint them black? Or powdercoat? I wanted to get chrome but this is too good of a deal to pass. $125 for the set...anyone have any idea how much it cost to powdercoat?

If I were you I'd pick up that steal and paint them likes this:

It's not a all black and $125 is a steal for some new wheels to replace the 16" stockers

The link you posted to the painted fan blades looks good. In my opinion the wheel needs to have some bright work to set it off from the tire and give it depth; the paint job on the link is nice piece of work.
If you plan to simply paint them all black with no bright work, then why not just get some cheap steel wheels - that is what the all black wheel looks like to me.

Don't cheap out on the paint though. I bought my car with stock rims that were painted. Whoever did it just used cheap rattle can paint and the rims had way too much paint on them. They had runs all over. It looked like garbage. It also threw them way out of balance. They did a horrible job though and just painted over everything while the wheels where still on the car. They even went over the center cap spinners. It was a mess. Long story short I opted to replace them and now have a nice set of black bullits.
I painted a set of truck rims with duplicolor wheel paint and they turned out real nice. Trick is to take your time and make sure everything is clean and prepped so the paint sticks

a rattle can is fine long as you take the time to prep and clear coat. mine is 2 cans of black wheel paint and 2 cans of clear. the clearcoat helps to protect it and also adds depth to the color, the more coats of clear you use the more glossy it looks
