Default Interior Ambient Light Mod.. Need help

ok guys, so the set up i have now, is i changed my map lights from stock to red led bulbs. Ive had them for a year now, and i get many compliments on the ambient light it provides but when i really do need a light inside the car, they dont help much. so heres what id like to do.

I want to first change my map lights back to regular or the bright white lights.

But then i also would like to find a red ambient LED somewhere thats small that i can drill a hole in between the two maplights and place it right in that head unit wired into the electrical system. I dont want the red led to be too bright, but just enough to give off a red ambient setting inside the car at night while driving.

Anyone have any ideas where i could find such an led?

Why don't you go with some footwell lights that are red. That will look pretty sweet. I run blue footwell and map lights. Chicks dig it.

i do have footwell lights. they light up the floors and lower part of the vehicle greatly. but not so much the upper half of the cabin like an ambient setting on the dash or seats

My 2007 VW Rabbit had EXACTLY what you are considering. Regular Maplights but they put a tiny red LED in between the maplights that put out a very soft red ambient light.

It worked well. Anytime you were driving and had to find something, that gentle light was enough to locate it. (Or take a look at your female's eyes LOL)
