Default Xcharger Drag day, 4 tenth's + error code

I finally got a chance to run my Inter cooled X at the drag strip at Irwindale.

My previous best was 9.14, this was with a CAI/Tune 8.8-3.73 rear, aluminum D/S.
Today my best was 8.774, only change was the Inter cooled Xcharger. (This is an 1/8 mile track)
Was I being too optimistic in expecting more than .4 sec difference by adding the supercharger? I was hoping for a full second.

Traction was my biggest problem, I could never get a clean launch. Just spinning off the line. I had to really feather into it to start and couldn't punch it till I was well off the line. I'm running BF Goodrich G-Force sports, by no means are these drag tires, I get that.

And the bonus of the night is that the car threw a code, Engine too lean. I cleared it and drove home, it didn't show up again. I think it was probably running hard at the top end that leaned it out. 20 miles of normal driving didn't show the code again.

I have a pretty good idea of what I have to do if I choose to add stuff to fix the traction problem. I'm more interested in what experience other Xmen have on the strip.

13.5 -13.8 non inter-cooled, water meth, dyno tune, drag radials/lca's

What/who's tune? Are you running gauges... wideband, fuel pressure?
"I think it was probably running hard at the top end that leaned it out " The last place you want a lean code is WOT! I would datalog and make sure there isn't a problem, not just clear a lean code with a supercharger.
lean+supercharger=broken motor

what was your mph in the 1/8?? no traction will kill your times , and running in the 1/8 opposed to a 1/4 you cant make up any top end pull difference ,lean code , do u have a a/f gauge ??? for sure you don't want lean under wot

4 tenths in the 1/8 mile - with wheel spin - isn't that bad of an improvement actually. Once you learn the new set up and can launch it, and get the lean code figured out, your times will improve. With the Xcharger you are getting a lot more torque and it comes on much sooner so you need to get the launch down.

Get that lean code figured out - I run hard at the track and have never had a code.

I generally do 1/4 mile so never remember my 1/8 mile times - although before the intercooler I was running something like 8.41 as I recall

Car is tuned by Racers Edge tuning in Downey CA. It was Dyno tuned for the current setup. I guess it's back for more tuning and tweaking.

MPH is up to 82 from 75 pre X.

No traction on a 1/8 mile is the problem. On a 1/4 mile strip, at least you can catch up later on but on a shorter 1/8 mile, by the time you get traction and get to speed you'll be almost across the finish line. Also, improving your time on the 1/8 will not be as drastic as in the 1/4.

Go look at dragtimes.com. A lot of mustangs running your 1/8 miles run mid 13's which is a great time IMO.

well with that mph it seems like most of the problem is traction

Thanks for all the responses. Obviously the time has come to get LCA's. I've been checking out options on the forum and I think I'll go with the J&M LCA's. My only question is since my car is lowered 1" with the Str.T/steeda combo, I think in need the relocation brackets. Right?
Drag tires & wheels will have to wait

Wes, My car is lowered 1.4 in the back and the stock LCA's were sitting the opposite way that they were supposed to.. I went with BMR LCA's & Relocation brackets, its a big difference. No more squat or wheel hop!
