Sorry I haven't replied to this thread, I thought I decided not to try and get a stang but the thought has creeped up on me again. I will not be getting that mustang for 21K, I just cant justify spending that on a V6. I am thinking of getting rid of the Trans Am because I am tired of driving it everyday. I am 18, and I drive the Trans Am to school and work everyday. I have had the car for the last 3 years. There is nothing wrong with the car, most of the reason is that I cant bare to wear it out using it as a DD. That and the fact that the seats are kinda stiff, the WS6 suspension makes it so every crack in the road is felt, the squeaks and rattles, and the A/C doesnt compare to a newer cars A/C. There is no grill on the front end so it likes to over heat sitting in traffic, the 5.7L does not get good mileage, and is just overall not a car meant to drive everyday in Vegas 120 degree heat. It is an awesome weekend car, but not everyday. I nitpick at little things and I fight a never ending war with squeaks and rattles inside. All of that combined with the fact that I kinda am getting a little bored with the car. Everything for F bodies is really expensive, and I feel bad modding the car. I like that I can change up the stang, and make it my own. I also decided that if I get a stang its going to be a 5 speed. IDK yet, there are 2 that I am looking at of car trader now. 5 speed 06 4.0s with the pony package and about 45K miles. One is torch red, and one is sonic blue. I have always wanted a sonic blue stang. They are both about 13K too, which would not be hard for me to do at all. I figure a 4.0 V6 stang with a 5 speed, CAI, tune, and some exhaust work would be atleast close to as fast as the L98 GTA, but get better mileage. IDK for sure yet. Here is a pic of the car I took last weekend, help me decide lol. If I sold my Trans Am I would want 8K for it..

Your car is beautiful. But if you want something newer I completely understand where your coming from. I love my little sixxer, but I'm not use to a V8 either, so I can't really be sure if you will like it.
Did you test drive the 4.0 you were looking at?

Are you sure it's a V6? 21k is way over priced for it and as far as I know, glass roofs only came on the GT. Otherwise it's an aftermarket install. Have you physically viewed the car? Even for $21k GT, it's on the high side. Also the car is no longer listed for sale via the link.. oh well, was curious to see it.

I dont think you're gonna get $8K on a trade in, they would offer you $1k maybe, your better off to sell your car private, just my .02, Gigger

Just for your reference, i just bought a 2009 45th anniversary with 10000m for 14k. Came with a 75000 mile warranty as well. Also I'm in western Canada, so prices are usually higher than in the US

I hate autotrader, alot of the time their info is wrong on the car or basic info is missing, if you want to sort by transmission it would be like 500 auto 50 manual 150 unknown, wtf is unknown, how do they not know the transmission?

check craigslist most dealers put up used car they have on there for decent amounts..

Thanks for the compliments! I still have not decided, its really hard because I really love my car but I just want something newer. I did test drive that 4.0 stang, and it did honestly feel kind of slow. I was hoping that a 5 speed transmission would help make the car feel more peppy. I am not paying 21K for a used V6 mustang no matter how nice it is. I can keep my GTA and get a 4-5K V6 4th gen firebird or something to DD, or sell my GTA and have a brand new Mustang that I will probably like just as much and my car now. Its soo hard.. Last night I raced a turbo STI Impreza up till about 60 MPH staying door to door with the tires breaking loose and the back end going side to side into 2nd gear. Makes me want to get rid of the car even less...

Nothing wrong with keeping your current car. Just save up some more for something in the future if you decide then.

You are 18 now and to you it's just an OLD car, I know exactly how you feel. I felt exactly the same way back in the 70's when I got rid of a 1966 Chevelle SS, and then a 1967 Impala, and again when I got rid of my 1964 1/2 Mustang Fastback. To this day I kick myself in the rear everytime I think about those cars and what I really had but was too young to realize it. Don't make that mistake with this car, put it up and buy you something else fun to drive. You have the start of what could be an awesome car collection, that car is more of an investment for you right now than it is anything else. I guarantee you there are people on here right now hoping you sell that car so they can swoop in on it
