depends on your location. A true ram air intake can force more air in to your engien at higher speeds while a cool air intake may give you the advantage if youre in an area where the temp above the road is lower than the rest of the air. realistically, you're talking a few ponies if it's even measurable.

hard to measure the effective of ram air unless you can throttle the fan in front of the dyno or build a rolling dyno that works at 100 mph

Short Rams are sucking the air in from under the hood where the CAI is getting outside air.
A lot of the Imports are running Short Rams to prevent Hydro lock , since the CAI is bringing the air in from behind the bumper or wheel well area and can get a lot of water from puddles splashing up.
You will probably do better with the CAI since you will not be getting the hot air from under the hood like you will with the Short Ram.

Short Ram Intake has nothing to do with "Ram Air". It's just a marketing name.

Siber has is right: SRI draws from under the hood where the ambient temp is probably too high to be much use power-wise and the CAI takes air from behind the bumper where it is (presumably) cooler and therefore denser (i.e. more 02 per liter).

Ram Air is a whole other thing as JCON explained.

does a short ram exist for the mustang? all i ever see listed is cai and they all stay in the engine bay not into the bumper.
