T-Lok Advice
 

So I was thinking of installing gears and a t-lok with my tax return, but after reading countless posts about how bad Motive gears were I decided against it. I still feel like adding a T-lok, but aside of getting rid of the one wheel peel, are there any other advantages of installing it or is that about it?

I'd personally recommend going the 8.8 route. By the time you're done with the price of t-lok, gears, install and all you'll be in the ballpark range of an 8.8. I was thinking about putting money into the 7.5 but after I added it all up I came to the conclusion that an 8.8 is a better investment

Like Alec said a Tlok/Gears is good and all for NA but if you plan on going forced induction down the road it won't hold up... For roughly the same price range I would do the 8.8!

I dont plan on going with gears, just the T-lok itself. I haven't found a reliable enough set of gears that I would bother going with. I was looking into an 8.8, but they're not available with 3.73s and thats what I wanted to go with. I dont think I'll be going F/I so I really don't think an 8.8 is what I'm looking for. I was just wondering if going with the T-Lok alone was worth it and what, if any advantages there are with the T-lok by itself.

Jim C destroyed his 7.5 with just a CAI, tune, and drag tires if I remember correctly. It is weak and not very useful if you want to go fast (or even if you don't). Don't bother with the tlock in the 7.5. Save a little more and get the 8.8 and you will not be disappointed. If you buy them from NTO, the gears that are in the 8.8 are Ford gears and are installed by Ford, so they won't be those cheap motive gears and all of the angles and everything will be set correctly. The 8.8 is supposedly a total bolt on and will be very easy for a shop, or yourself, to install.

You could purchase an 8.8 w/ 373s and 410s installed already.... Check eBay and newtakeoff.com

Advantages of the t-lok are power to both wheels, which helps traction.

Gears are a lot of fun dude :) Just think of your options before you do anything. I was going to put 4.10s and t-lok in my 7.5 but am glad I went the 8.8 route. Got it a lot cheaper too, $250 on craigslist and works great

Well I was checking out Newtakeoff and they dont offer 3.73s with their 8.8s that come V6 ready. I'm thinking of just going with 3.55s with the 8.8 and decide later if I want to go with a different set of gears. I'll keep everyone posted when everything is all done.
