I think if you're going to have your car at triple digit speeds for extended periods of time - sure, go for it! But the odds of that are slim to none.
Go for a Vortech, Procharger, or X Charger!
I'm thinking of doing a turbo on mine

wouldn't a vented hood have more benefit than a functional scoop? in regards to venting engine bay heat?

I think I'll test that theory next week by opening up my scoop and sticking a thermometer to the underside of the hood

Well yeah, because that's what they're made for.
Scoop (functional) are generally made for engine intake in mind.

Or you could wire in a common household fan and superglue it to the underside of the hood. Probably will help about as much.
