Default Getting a custom H-pipe setup, help!

I have been going to shops/muffler centers and asking about
getting a custom H-pipe setup but my quotes seem insanely high compared to what I've heard others on MFs paying for the same job. My quotes have been an average of $500. Plus I'm providing the mufflers! All I need is the one h-pipe for the one side to match the other (at least I think?)
Because im pretty mechanically illiterate, unless its an easy job, I feel like im asking for the wrong thing or that me and the shops ive been to thus far arent understanding eachother with what i want. Does anyone have any diagrams/lists of what I need done that I could bring into shops so that the mechanics will know what the heck it is I want?
For $500 I could just get a conversion kit, I'm looking to get it cheaper especially since I've got the mufflers already. I just don't know what it is specifically that I need done.

That is high.
Go for a conversion kit for much cheaper.
Or find a take of H pipe from a GT.

I remember talking to someone on here who got the entire job done for $180 (plus they provided mufflers). Which is super cheap IMO, but if I could get it for $250 that would be better, I just need to know what I'm asking for I guess.

$500? Lol

I got mine done cheap, but it was done at a friend's custom exhaust shop, so I am always hesitant to say how much because I don't want to skew the numbers. $500 is waaay too much. Keep shopping around

500 dollars is ridiculous. Perhaps they all thought that you were asking for something a bit more extensive then welding up a generic H pipe and clamping down the mufflers you provide?

500 is too high. I would not pay over 300 no matter what. What did you tell them exactly? Just ask them to run an H-pipe after the cats and use your mufflers. If they come back high, just tell them 250 is your budget and don't go over 300.

I paid $250 for the custom H-pipe and install in my local Meineke shop. I supplied the GT mufflers. The owner is a Mustang enthusiast and did a great job on it. It's all hand welded. It took a couple of hours of shop time.
