Best 4.0 exaust?
Hey guys-
Another question I apologize for having a ton of them, but im a college kid so i like to see the money I drop on my baby spent wisely... So what do you guys recommend as far as mustang exaust? I was thinking about the magnaflow catback setup... Im just looking for something loud and nasty (non ricer) sounding... something that sets off the alarm of the car next to you when you fire it up!

Stags... search around on the site... there's boatloads of exhaust threads to peruse.
That being said.... based on the money situation you describe (and these days we're ALL there I'm sure) a straight forward muffler swap sounds like your easiest bet.
As to most economical, find either a used or new take-off from a manual trans GT or another single exhaust that's... "liberated" as far as backpressure.
Straightforward, econmical and easily installed. It's what I'm running now.... 'til I can find the time to parse in my X-pipe with true duals....

Ive always loved my true duals pypes exhaust. They sel it at american muscle for 474.99 with free shipping. I have this set up on my 2006 manual v6, and my girl has the SAME exhaust on her 2005 auto. If money is tight, I'd recommend that you do what I did. Buy a pair of GT take-offs from a manual. They are everywhere. You can get them cheap on newtakeoff.com, craigslist, or ebay. I think I paid 40 bucks for the pair. Replace your stock muffler with one of the GT's. You'll get much better sound from that alone. It won't sound like a GT, but it will be a deeper, richer tone. When you have the money to do an x-pipe or h-pipe, use the other GT muffler you've got on hand. For sound I'd recommend the H-pipe. My local Meineke shop built me a custom welded H-pipe for $250 installed. This setup isn't the loudest around, but it has a deeper tone that doesn't drone. And it's DEFINITELY the most bang for your buck. I'm just repeating info that you'll see in countless posts from members who have done the same thing.

I have a custom made h-pipe with Flowmaster American Thunder, it sounds great. I get compliments all the time. I'd say go with an h-pipe cuz across the street from where I work there is a guy with a 2011 V6 (stock x-pipe) with some mufflers (I don't know what kind) and it sounds like a Honda. So yeah, h-pipe is your best bet. Oh, and what really set off the sound on my exhaust was the BBK CAI I bought, no more popping sounds our sixxers make.
