Default What works

Hey, I was wondering what mods actually work for the 4.0 mustang in giving you more HP im a bit skeptical when i hear a CAI gives you up to 15 extra HP. I hear a lot of people get a CAI, tuner, and exhaust but i was wondering what else you can buy that gives you more power without breaking the bank.

I don't think there is too much you can do.
You could try gears and get better down low torque.
I can see getting a CAI and tune with an auto, but I'm a little hesitant with a manual.
Maybe you should just save that money toward FI or engine swap.

Unless you go FI (or nitrous), the best power gainer is a CAI & custom tune combo; the stand-alone CAI is useless. The combo will net you about 15-20 RWHP on the 4.0.

Good as a paperweight but as far as performance -- well the only way your car will get better performance is because your wallet is so much lighter after buying one it may offset the extra weight of that chunk of metal.

I have a manual transmission and the SCT Tuner & JLT CAI woke the car up! Like Nuke said you can expect gains up to 20 hp with the combo on the 4.0

Gears are not going to add HP or TQ just make the car feel faster because of the gearing.

Apart from this dont waste your money on TB Spacers! Throttlebodies unless you are F/I it will not make that much of a difference to spend that kind of money.

If you want your V6 to be a performer unfortunately there is no cheap solution. F/I is the easiest way to accomplish this and will basically drive like stock only with a lot more power. NOS would be a fairly low cost alternative for the occasional blast of power.

I've often wanted to force new forum users to read through the standard "new to Mustangs what mods should i get" threads before allowing them to post. I'm not an admin though....
