Thumbs up Procharger vs Engine Swap

I was talking to my in-laws and i was telling him i wanted to put a procharger on my car and he was like why not just do a swap. I never thought about it cause i was like nawwwwww its to much money well i find out its not. So i been reading on some threads and all my question is should i do 4.6, 5.0, or 5.4 swap? What ever your answer what components do i need? I found a 4.6 for 1900.00 dollars and a tranny with 34,000 miles for 995.00 with free shipping. What elso do i need, the wiring harness and rear end 8.8 driveline? I want it to be like i just bought a v8. I want it just right. Im really confused on all of this and if anyone has done this how much does it normally run?

thanks

For an easy cheaper plug and play type swap your best bet is the 4.6 out of an 05-09 GT. If you're looking for max HP, and you have the money. The GT500 engine is a good platform for the swap. Off the top of my head. Engine, Engine Mounts, Tranny, PCU, wiring harness, driveshaft, rear axle, suspension, BRAKES.

Also forgot about the 5.4L 4v DOHC out of the Lincoln Navigator. You could do the new 5.0L, but that would be quite expensive.

First of all, a v8 swap is a better option overall; you'll get comparable power to a blower on the v6, and better torque.
If you shop around, you can get EVERYTHING you need for $2500 or less.

As far as for what you need, do a search for other threads.
Also check out mustangcollective.com, where a lot of us have details on our v6 to v8 swaps, including the parts needed.

You will have to come across it on somewhere like eBay, craigslist, ect...

The reason why I went with FI instead of a motor swap is because I like being different, also I couldn't have my car out of comission to do a motor swap since it is my DD. Also with a motor swap it will just be another V8 until you start doing stuff to it which would be more money. It will make around 260-270rwhp stock 3V where as I am making in the 350rwhp range, just to give you something to think about. You also have to consider what you are going to do with the car and any future plans. People expect a V8 to be fast, not a V6!

Too bad your in VA, there's someone not far from me with a 4.6 with auto tranny with 35k on it that wants $1350 for it. Thats a pretty good deal from what i've seen even though im sure you want a manual transmission.

Yea I will be going with the v8 swap here soon, I only have 4500 left in car payments and then it will be nothing but cash for the v8 swap, you will have a better platform for mods than boosting a 6 cylinder, plus the roar of a v8, nothing better than that. I am not to far away from you, so if you go to do it give me a shout I could help.
