Being a member of the Safety Team at work, it's always on the forefront of my mind.

As it were, many years ago a colleague was working under his 64 Chevy Impala SS vert. Whilst he had it very safely up on stands, etc., he was at the end of his driveway... and a drunk driver came up over the curb and knocked the car off the stands on top of him.

He survived... but was never quite the same both physically and mentally. Prior to the incident he was one very tough hombre.... Weighlifter, etc. Probably his robust physical condition is what saved his life. That and a whole lot of luck, I suppose.

Now... that's something that always comes to mind whenever I'm about to work under the car. So.... yeah.... I'm pretty damn sure it's rock solid on the stands or whatever... and never EVER near the road.

Ah... well, at least they didn't just end up being scrap.

So... let's hope that Carma [intentional SIC] (what goes around DOES come around) is on your side and you end up getting a sweet deal on the parts you need. And $40... wow... Yeah that would be a very nice deal indeed.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Man, that's really unfortunate. Nobody would ever think they wouldn't be safe in their driveway. But obviously that's not the case. I have a garage so I shouldn't have to worry about someone driving into it.
