Default A-Pillar Rattle - What does it sound like?

I think I might have the infamous A-Pillar rattle, but I'm not 100% certain.

No matter what RPM I'm at, it sounds like two crickets are in my dash panel fuking on ecstacy. LOL!! Or, it kind of sounds like somebody put a metal paper clip in a glass Coke bottle and is shaking it around. It's worse when I go over bumps or rough roads, and has gotten progressively worse over the last couple of months.

The noise seems to be originating from either the upper left hand corner of my dash, or from behind the speedometer.

Has anyone else had this noise pop up?

Thanks in advance guys and gals.

I had a slight rattle in my A-pillar too. It was during the winter, and I simply put a piece of foam in the crevice between where the bottom of the pillar and the top of the dash meet.

Solved the problem so far. Just put your hand over the A-pillar while the sound is being made, and you can usually tell if that's where its coming from- It would stop immediately for me when I did that (the pillar wasn't secured properly, and it would vibrate making that noise).

Mine was more of a constant rattle, almost like someone was tapping a pencil against the plastic on my dashboard. But it would cease instantly after I put pressure on the A-pillar. So you will know pretty easily if it's that causing the problem, and then you could just use the foam trick and see if that helps.

If that isn't it, then I would start checking the window switches on your driver/pass doors. I know it sounds weird, but they have been known to rattle/tap as well for many owners.

There is a page dedicated to rattles that exist in our model year cars. Most 07+ model years don't get most of the described noises, but they still have helpful info on tracking common problems down.

There are some handy fixes in there. Hope this helps man, good luck!

Well, I tried applying pressure and that didn't solve the issue. I think it's coming from inside the engine. Will have to find time to check some weekend.

Hey, thank you so much for that link. I will definitely read through it!

I had a rattle there, so I took all of the pieces off trying to find a loose screw or something. I didn't find anything, but when I put everything back together, it disappeared.
