Default Steeda sport shifter

Anyone try the Steeda sport shifter? I was thinking about buying one, espcially because the stock V6 shifter pretty much sucks. I had a 97 cobra, before I bought my 05' (gas mileage, inusrance in case your wondering) My cobra had one of the sweetest shifters. Anyone who has had a V8 mustang with an aftermarket shifter can probably agree. It had very little play and would kinda make a hard clicking noise as it went between gears because it was so precise. I know that if they can make them for the old 5.0 mustangs with the T-5 some one has to have one for the new 4.0 mustangs with the T-5. Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh I did see the review on the economy shifter, but this one's different. Also, I heard Hurst might be coming out with one?

I had an SS Camaro convertible with the factory Hurst shifter and know exactly what you mean about how a good shifter should work.

Right now the sport shifter will not work on an 05 unless your right arm is a foot longer than most peoples. The 05 is not a top loader, it is remotely mounted between the transmission and the car body. there is about a foot long arm that mounts to the bottom of the shifter handle and goes to the transmission. The busings at the transmission and the car body are very soft rubber and contributes greatly to the poor feel to the shifter IMO.

Out of curiosity when you shift from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 does the shifter want to stop for a split second and then goes into gear?

It does seem to hesitate, which has contributed to me actually missing 2nd and 3rd, different gears on different ocassions. I have had several mustangs, and as far as the shifter this is even worse than my 68, which had like a stock truck shifter. Obviously not a good thing. I don't really run my car hard, but I was testing out some perfomance mods. It sucks because I have hit the rev limiter like 4 times because of it, which is not a good thing at all. So I don't really drive it hard at all. Sometimes I let the engine wind out though between shifts though.

Hey,
I was wondering the same thing. I have noticed recently after driving other cars that my shifter is a piece!. I mean my 92 jeep wrangler does a better job and that is really saying something! its like an 8 in shift! WTF? what were they thinking? I found the Steeda Sport shifter for 05 v6 on ebay for 139.99 free shipping. Steeda sells them for 139 also but you have to pay shipping. HELP PLEASE!!!!

I wonder if just changing out the bushings would be enough to make a difference? http://www.steeda.com/store/-catalog/555-7095.htm At just $15 it might be worth a try.
