Default Whats wrong with this picture?

Ive been looking at new stangs all night since im planning to pick one up in 2 weeks or so and I have never actually looked at the shifter *** on these new MT82's..

Im SO use to having reverse in the bottom right corner.. It seems now reverse is sort of where 1st gear should be.. Question, is there some sort of lockout when the car is moving forward at least? Im so use to downshifting in a way that I might accidentally throw it in reverse instead of first.. Maybe Im over thinking but seems absolutely stupid, well maybe not as bad as having no spare tire.

Default Reverse

You have to PUSH DOWN, over left, and up to get reverse. No worry about sticking it in reverse at a red light by mistake........

What flavor of V dub?
Beetles and Vans had this pattern.
R was to the left and down.
But you had to push down first...

I think it was a 92 Jetta (POS). I think it was down to the left if I recall? Cool car till it started having electrical probs.
