Default 4.0 engine racing at low accelaration

I have a newby question here. My daughter bought a 2008 4.0 V6. I drove it around the block. Just barely pressing on the accelator at low speeds (0 to 20) will cause the engine to race loudly, then it will proceed but with still a louder than usual noise while continuing to accelerate. Is this normal? I haven't driven it at higher speeds. She says it is due to the exhaust on it. Our 2004 V6 Mustang does not drive anything like that.

I forgot to mention the 08 also has another problem - the ABS and Traction Control lights are on all the time. Could this be related to the rough acceleration?

Definitely if you have ABS and TCS lit up it could cause drivability issues. You need to get that checked. The system is probably actively pulling power and applying the brakes so your throttle isn't acting normally
